MASSAGE FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to be a chiropractic patient to get massages at Northern Edge Chiropractic?

No – We have a separate massage suite that is located inside our clinic. You do not have to have a Doctor’s referral or be a chiropractic patient in order to receive massages at our clinic. Our massage therapist will take you through a brief history to determine the best areas of the body to massage. We do recommend a chiropractic exam If you are experiencing pain, but it is not required.

Does my insurance cover massages at Northern Edge Chiropractic?

Potentially
Major Medical – Most major medical companies will not cover massage therapy, even if it is considered part of an active treatment plan. If you are interested in chiropractic care and massage combined, we do recommend calling our office to schedule an exam so our office manager can check on your benefits.

Car Insurance – If you have been involved in a recent car accident please call our office immediately to schedule a FREE 60 minute massage. In accordance with MN State Law chiropractic care and massage therapy are covered in your ‘No Fault Benefits’ if the massage therapy is part of an active treatment plan. This means, on your first visit we will bring you through an initial chiropractic exam, then provide a FREE 60 minute massage. Every massage after that will be covered at 100% by your car insurance company. For more details or if you have just been injured in a car accident please call the office at (763)316-5252.

What types of massage do you offer?

All of our massage therapists have been trained in a variety of different massage techniques. Our most common massages are Therapeutic, Relaxation, Deep Tissue and Swedish. Our massage therapist also accommodates pregnant women, during pregnancy we tend to see a lot of lower back pain which is usually relieved by massage and chiropractic care. Massage during pregnancy is 100% safe for the mother and baby, and is recommended once every other week to reduce low back pain and sciatica.

How often should I get a massage?

We recommend getting a massage once a month to promote health and wellness. If you are dealing with any pain the most common recommendation is to get a massage once every week to twice a month. Again if you are dealing with some sort of injury we highly recommend getting a chiropractic examination scheduled to determine the cause of your pain.

What should I expect on my first massage therapy appointment?

On your first appointment we recommend arriving around 15 minutes early. This will allow for our staff to properly set you up in our health records system and give you time to fill out the initial paperwork and waiver. After you have completed your paperwork, our massage therapist will bring you back to the massage room. After a brief history she will leave the room and allow you to undress and get relaxed on the table.

Our massage therapist will then perform 60 minutes of massage to the desired regions of the body. After the massage is done our therapist will leave the room and allow time for you to get dressed. You will meet her outside where she will have water for you to drink and a recommendation on further care if needed. All you have to do is relax!

What should I wear or do I have to get completely undressed?

All of our massages are performed in a private room, separated from flow of people in the clinic. We recommend wearing what you feel most comfortable in. Most people who are getting a full body massage do completely undress. However, if you feel uncomfortable about this at all, please make sure to leave your undergarments on during the massage.
