Spinal Degeneration Phase 1
phases of degenerationAs you can see in the picture above the first phase of degeneration starts with the loss of the normal cervical curve. This generally is caused by poor posture, an excess amount of time sitting/working on a computer, or some sort of soft tissue injury that occurred in the mid back causing the muscles in the neck to compensate. During this phase most patients are experiencing minimal symptoms that usually present as a dull ache or a slight headache, with the patient experiencing the symptoms once to twice a week. Someone who is in stage one of degeneration can expect to see 2-3 months worth of care to correct for all the damage and improper bio-mechanics.

This is the start of a downward spiral and for most patients is not a big enough reason to seek treatment. One of the worst things you can do is to wait for you symptoms to get worse before seeking out treatment. I hear all the time “I thought it would go away on its own” or “the pain wasn’t bad enough to go in”. It is part of human nature to think that all problems are temporary, as a doctor of chiropractic I am here to tell you that any muscular or structural problem associated with the neck will not go away, it will only get worse. The current cultural lifestyle we all live will not allow for neck problems to get better on their own, on any given day we apply to much stress to our cervical spine to allow for healing.

The good news is the doctors at Northern Edge Chiropractic located in Plymouth, MN can help. Any patient with even minimal symptoms will go through a full chiropractic examination to assess their current cervical structure and bio-mechanical status. After determining the diagnosis the chiropractors will develop a personalized treatment plan to get you out of pain quickly and start your road to recovery. Treatment will consist of the latest technology in passive therapies, hybrid muscle therapy and chiropractic adjustments to give you the best possible results. If you are experiencing any type of headaches, neck pain, or back pain please give us a call before its too late!
